NEW Continuing Education Requirements
New CAS Certification CEU requirements for renewals starting June 2012

20 hours of continuing education per year will be accepted for CAS Certification renewal
-
3 hours Ethics and Confidentiality is required every year

Online Continuing Education is acceptable for all 20 hours required.
Continuing education must be in the areas of TAP 21 Addiction Counseling Competencies.
First Aid and CPR are not acceptable continuing education for CAS Renewal.

CAS Education Requirement
Acceptance of Education Program
The applicant shall complete a minimum of 155 documented hours of formal classroom Alcohol and other Drug education, which shall include the following subjects:
Proposed California Uniform Code of Conduct
This is to inform you that all of the approved certifying organizations have agreed to the attached minimum code of ethics, and the ADP will use this when investigating complaints starting September 1, 2009. CAS will continue to use its higher standard and registered and certified CAS counselors will be held to this standard.
